3X + 2Y = 7 ----(1)

3X + Y = 1 ------(2)

/* Subtract eqution (2) from eqution (1) , we get */

Y = 6

/* Put Y = 6 in equation (2) we get */

3X + 6 = 1

 \implies 3X = 1 - 6

 \implies 3X = -5

 \implies X = \frac{-5}{3}

Therefore.,

 X = \frac{-5}{3}

 Y = 6
