Answer :-

  • x = 10
  • y = 6

Given :-

  • x + y = 16
  • x - y = 4

To Find :-

  • Values of x and y.

Solution :-

Here

  • x + y = 16
  • x - y = 4

→ x + y = 16 ...i)

→ x - y = 4 ...ii)

Add eq i) and ii)

⇒ x + x + y - y = 16 + 4

⇒ 2x + 0 = 16 + 4

⇒ 2x = 20

⇒ x = 20/2

⇒ x = 10

Put the value of x in eq i)

⇒x + y = 16

⇒10 + y = 16

⇒y = 16 - 10

⇒y = 6

Hence, the value of x and y are 10 and 6 respectively.
