Answer :

x = 10 , y = 6

Solution :

Here ,

The given linear equations are ;

x + y = 16 ------(1)

x - y = 4 ------(2)

Now ,

Adding eq-(1) and eq-(2) , we get ;

=> x + y + x - y = 16 + 4

=> 2x = 20

=> x = 20/2

=> x = 10

Now ,

Putting x = 10 in eq-(1) , we get ;

=> x + y = 16

=> 10 + y = 16

=> y = 16 - 10

=> y = 6

Hence ,

x = 10 , y = 6
