Let there present ages be A and B respectively.

Now, three years ago there ages would be:-

A - 3 = 4(B - 3)

A - 3 = 4B - 12

A - 4B + 9 = 0 ---(i)

Now, after eighteen years there ages will be:-

A + 18 = (B + 18) + 12

A - B - 12 = 0 ---(ii)

Now subtracting eq(i) from eq(ii), we get:-

3B = 21

B = 7

Now substituting value of B in eq(ii)

A = 12 + 7

A = 19

So there present ages are 19 and 7 respectively.

So the ratio of there ages will be 19/7.
