D = b^{2} - 4ac = 0

[-2(k + 1)]^{2} - 4(k + 1)1 = 0

4(k + 1)^{2} - 4(k + 1) = 0                     [Divided entire equation by 4]

(k + 1)^{2}  - (k + 1) = 0

k^{2} + 2k + 1 - k - 1 = 0

k^{2} + k = 0                                         [Divided entire equation by k]

k + 1 = 0

k = -1
