Solution :-

given that, 30 men starts the work and they can complete it in 40 days .

So, let us assume that, each man can complete 1 unit of work daily .

then,

→ 1 man completes work in 1 day = 1 unit

→ 30 men completes work in 1 day = 1 * 30 = 30 units

→ 30 men completes work in 40 days = 30 * 40 = 1200 units = Total work .

now,

→ In first two days , 30 men completes work = 30 * 2 = 60 units .

So,

→ Left work to be done = 1200 - 60 = 1140 units .

and,

→ Men left now = 30 - 6 = 24 men .

therefore,

→ Time taken by 24 men to completes remaining work = 1140/24 = 47.5 days (Ans.)

Hence, the remaining work will be completed in 47.5 days.

Shortcut :-

30 men completes the remaining work in (40 - 2) = 38 days . Then, (30 - 6) = 24 men completes the same work in :-

→ M1 * D1 = M2 * D2

→ 30 * 38 = 24 * D2

→ 5 * 38 = 4 * D2

→ 5 * 19 = 2 * D2

→ D2 = 47.5 days (Ans.)
