We can see that, investment made of Tonu and Sonu can be expressed in terms of Monu's investment. So, let the investment made by Monu be x.

Then,

• Tonu's investment

= x + 10% of x

= 110% of x

= 11x / 10

• Sonu's investment

= x - 10% of x

= 90% of x

= 9x / 10

According to question:

• Total investment made = Rs. 60000

⇒ x + 9x / 10 + 11x / 10 = Rs. 60000

⇒ 10x + 9x + 11x / 10 = Rs. 60000

⇒ 30x / 10 = Rs. 60000

⇒ x = Rs. 60000 × 10 / 30

⇒ x = Rs. 20000
