Answer:

Let 1/x-1=a

1/y-2=b

5a+b=2------------(i)×3

6a-3b=1-------------(ii)×1

15a+3b=2--------(iii)

6a-3b=1-----------(iv)

______________

21a. = 3

a = 3/21

a= 1/7

Putting the value of a in eq. (i)

5a+b=2

5×1/7+b =2

5/7 +b =2

b = 2-5/7

b = 14-5/7

b = 9/7

Now, 1/x-1 =a

1/x-1 = 1/7

x-1 = 7

x = 7+1

x = 8

1/y-2 =b

1/y-2 = 9/7

9(y-2) = 7

9y- 18 = 7

9y = 7+18

y = 25/9

Hence, x = 8

and y = 25/9
