Step-by-step explanation:

Given A school auditorium is 55 m long and 37 m wide. This auditorium is surrounded by a veranda of width 2 m on its outside. Find the area of the veranda. Also, find the cost of laying the tiles in the veranda at the rate of 200 per sq. m.

  • Area of school auditorium = 55 x 37 = 2035 sq m
  • Now length of given rectangle is 55 + 2 + 2 = 59
  • Also breadth will be 37 + 2 + 2 = 41
  • So area will be 59 x 41 = 2419 sq m
  • Area of veranda = area of whole – area of auditorium
  •                         = 2419 – 2035
  •                       = 384 sq m
  • So cost of laying tiles in veranda for 1 sq m is Rs 200
  • Therefore cost of laying for 384 sq m will be 384 x 200
  •                                                                  = Rs 76,800
