Correct Question:-

A cardboard box open from the top is 1.5 m long, 1.25 m wide and 65 cm deep. Find the area of cardboard required for making the box and the cost of the cardboard required at the rate of Rs 20 per m².

Given :

A open cardboard box is of  :-

Length (l) 1.25m

Breadth (b) = 1.25 m

Depth (h) 65cm

To Find :

Area of the cardboard, cost of the carboard required at the rate of 20 per m².

Solution :-

Converting 65cm into m.

1 m = 100cm, 1cm = 1/100m

(65/100)m

= 0.65 m

Cardboard box is open from the top,

Required area—

= 2lh + 2bh + lb (Area of the two sides i.e., area of two walls + Area of the base)

= (2 × 1.5 × 0.65 + 2 × 1.25 × 0.65 + 1.5 × 1.25)m²

=  (1.95 + 1.625 + 1.875) m2

= 5.45 m²

Cost of cardboard for 1  m² = Rs 20

Cost of cardboard for 5.45 m² =  20 × 5.45

= Rs 109

or

Cost of the cardboard = Area × Rent

= 5.45m² × Rs 20/1m²

=  5.45  × Rs 20

= Rs 109
