Given that the students got 123 marks
Also it is given that he is failed by 39 marks
Hence marks required to pass = 123 + 39 = 162
That is 36% of x = 162
⇒ (36/100) × x = 162
⇒ x = 162 × (100/36) = 450
Thus the total marks are 450.
