Cell - A cell or battery is a device by which electrical energy is generated based on the chemical action taking place in the cell (Chemical energy)
Types of cells - There are two kinds of cells, namely, (a) Primary cell (b) Secondary cell
In primary cell, the chemical energy is converted into electrical energy when current is drawn from it and the chemical reaction is irreversible Example - Voltaic cell, Daniel cell
However, in case of a secondary cell, the chemical reaction is reversible. The chemical energy is converted into electrical energy when current is drawn from it and electrical energy is converted into chemical energy when current is passed through it. Example - Lead Acid Accumulator, Edison cell
Internal resistance - This is the resistance offered by the cell (Electrolyte and the electrodes) when electric current flows through it.
The internal resistance of the cell depends of so many factors like life of the cell, electrolyte used etc. In case of secondary cell, mostly lead acid is used. The lead acid offers very low resistance and delivers high current on demand.
