lets assume  that there are 50 red beetles  residing on a  bush, now due to variation few green beetles are born. Now the green colored beetles have an advantage to hide from the predators like crow as there color is same as that of the bush, but the red colored beetle can be seen prominently by the crow. thus the red colored beetles are attacked more,Thus slowly the red beetle population decrease and the  green beetle's population expands by further reproduction
