Hi there !!

It looks like the following question needs to be factorised

Here's the method

The following expression 3x² + 9x - 30 can be factorised by the method of splitting the middle terms
According to the rule,
ab = -30 × 3 = 90. 90 = 15 × -6
a + b = 9 or 15 - 6 = 9

Therefore,

3x² + 9x - 30 = 3x² + 15x - 6x - 30

Taking out common factors,
we have,

3x² + 9x - 30 = 3x(x + 5) - 6( x + 5)

Taking x + 5 as common factor,
we have,

3x² + 9x - 30 = ( 3x - 6)(x + 5)

also,

3x² + 9x - 30 = 0

(3x - 6)(x + 5) = 0

Therefore,
3x - 6 =0
3x = 0 + 6 = 6
x = 6/3
x = 2

x + 5 = 0
x = 0 - 5
x = -5

Thus,
x = 2, -5
