The given equations are 3x - 4y = 20 …(1) <br> and x + 2y = 5 …(2) <br> Multiplying equation (1) by 1 and (2) by 2, we get <br> 3x - 4y = 20 ….(3) <br> 2x + 4y = 10 ….(4) <br> Adding these equations, we get <br> 5x = 30 <br> implies x = 6 <br> Substituting x = 6 in equation (1), we get <br>

3X6-4 y=20

<br> implies 18 - 4y = 20 <br> implies - 4y = 2 <br> implies

Y=-1/2

<br> Hence, the solution is

x=6

y=-1/2
