Answer:

Solving the equations by substitution method

3x - 5y = 18 ..............(1)

6x + y = 3 ................(2)

from the equation (1) the value of x we can write it as,

⟹ 3x - 5y = 18

⟹ 3x = 18 + 5y

x = (18 + 5y )/3 , put this value in equation (2)

⟹ 6[(18 + 5y) / 3]+ y = 3

⟹ 2(18 + 5y) + y = 3

⟹ 36 + 10y + y = 3

11y = -33

\boxed{\textbf{\large{y = -3}}}

put the value of y = -3 in equation (1) we get,

3x - 5y = 18

⟹ 3x - 5(-3) = 18

⟹ 3x + 15 = 18

⟹ x =( 18 - 15)/ 3

\boxed{\textbf{\large{x  = 1}}}

The values of x and y are

x = 1, y= -3
