3x+y=2
=>y=2-3x ->(i)

9x+2y=7
=>9x+2(2-3x)=7. (from i)
=>9x+4-6x=7
=>3x=3
=>x=1 ->(ii)

(i)=>y=2-3x
=>y=2-3(1). (from ii)
=>y=2-3
=>y=-1

therefore, the required values of x and y are 1 and -1 respectively.
