3xy - 5 and 9xy - Add the given expressions.

According to the question, we have to add the expressions: (3xy - 5) and (9xy).



Out of the two terms (3xy - 5) and (9xy) it is evident that the constant doesn't have a pair to be added with but the term 3xy has a similar term 9xy to be added with.



Hence after adding the two similar terms: (3xy) and (9xy) first, we get 3xy + 9xy = 12xy.



Now we are left to add with the constant and the sum i.e. 12xy and -5



So, we get 12xy - 5. Since there are no common terms in between so we cannot further resolve it.



Therefore, on adding (3xy - 5) and (9xy) we get (12xy - 5) [Ans]
