Step-by-step explanation:

p(x)= 3y^4-8y^3-y^2-5y-5

g(x)=y-3

q(x)=ay^3+by^2+cy+d

r=k

(y-3)(ay^3+by^2+cy+d)+k=dividend

= ay^4+y^3(b-3a)+y^2(c-3b)+y(d-3c)-(3d-k)

!! a=3

!! b-3a =-8

!! b=1

c-3b=-1

c=2

d-3c=-5

d=1

quotient=3y^3+y^2+2y+1

3d-k=5

-k=2

k= -2

however we have to do -(-2)

hence 2 is the remainder
