Let, 2x-3 = a.

So, the given equation will become 4a²-a-14 = 0

Now, solving it, we will get :

4a²-7a+8a-14 = 0

or, 4a(a+2)-7(a+2) = 0

or, (a+2) (4a-7) = 0

From here, we get : a = -2 or, a = 7/4

Clearly, the two required solutions are :

2x-3 = -2 or, x = 1/2

2x-3 = 7/4 or, 8x-12 = 7 or, 8x = 19 or, x = 19/8
