4.67g of solid copper(II)chloride are mixed into a 250.0mL solution of 0.500mol/L aqueous sodium hydroxide.
A. Write the chemical reaction. Predict the products and identify any precipitates [1]

B. What types of chemical reaction will this produce? [1]

C. Provide a balanced chemical reaction [1]

D. Describe the steps you would take to make 250.0mL of the 1.5mol/L solution [2]

E. Calculate the moles of each reactant [1]

F. Identify which reactant is the limiting reactant[1]

G. Calculate the moles of each product [2]

H. Calculate the theoretical yield of solid precipitate [1]

I. Assuming you get 4.27g of solid precipitate, calculate the percent yield [1]

J. Propose 2 reasons why the lab yield might be different than the theoretical yield (sources of error) [2]

Answer:

P1 = 100cm

V2 =160ml

P2 = 740 mm

P1V1 = P2V2

P2 = P1V1/V2 = 100 x 80 / 160

= 50 cm of Hg
