4. A bus that is travelling at the rate of 90 km/h slows down to 54 km/h over a distance of
20 m. Calculate the acceleration produced and the time for which the brakes are applied.

Acceleration of the bus

 =  \frac{54m {s}^{ - 1}  - 90m {s}^{ - 1} }{20 \: min}  \\  =  \frac{15m {s}^{ - 1}  - 25m {s}^{ - 1} }{1200s}  \\  =  \frac{ - 10m {s}^{ - 1} }{1200s}  \\  =  \frac{1}{120} m {s}^{ - 2}
