Given :   A coin is tossed n times in succession.

To Find :  the probability of r (<n) heads

Solution:

A coin is tossed

P(Head) = 1/2

p = 1/2

P ( not Head) = 1 - P(Head)

=> P ( not Head) = 1 - 1/2

=>  P ( not Head) = 1/2

=> q =  1/2

P(x) = ⁿCₓpˣqⁿ⁻ˣ

p = 1/2

q = 1/2

x = r

P(r)={^n}C_r(\frac{1}{2} )^{r}(\frac{1}{2} )^{n-r}

P(r)={^n}C_r(\frac{1}{2} )^{n}

the probability of r (<n) heads  is  {^n}C_r(\frac{1}{2} )^{n}
