Given that :-

  • The initial velocity of a motorboat, u = 0
  • Acceleration of motorboat, a=3.0ms-2
  • Time under consideration or time is taken t = 8.0s

To Prove :-

  • How far does the boat travel during this time?

Formula :-

  \bigstar \: \boxed{ \underline{ \underline{ \frak{ \blue{Distance, s = ut + ( \dfrac{1}{2})at^2}}}}}

Solution :-

 \underline{\bold{Substituting \:  the \:  given  \: and \: known \:  values  \: in  \: the \:  Formula  \: we \: get,}} \\  \\  \tt{s= 0 (8) + 1/2 (3) (8)^2 } \\  \\  \tt{ \hookrightarrow \: 1/2 (3) (64)} \\  \\ \tt{ \hookrightarrow 3(32)} \\  \\  \boxed{ \tt{ \purple{ \hookrightarrow \: 96}}} \\  \\     \underline{ \underline{ \bf{ \red{Therefore,  \: the \:  distance \:  travel  \: by \: motorboat = 96 m}}}}

QUESTION:-

A motorboat starting from rest on a lake accelerates in a straight line at a constant rate of 3.0ms-2 for 8.0s. How far does the boat travel during this time?

GIVEN:-

  • The initial velocity of a motorboat, u = 0
  • Acceleration of motorboat, a=3.0ms-2
  • Time under consideration or time is taken t = 8.0s

TO FIND:-

  • How far does the  boat travel during this time

ANSWER:-

We know that s =ut + 1/2at²

According to question, u = 0 [As it was in rest]; a = 3ms⁻² ; t = 8s

s = 0 x 8 + 1/2 x 3 x 8 x 8\\s = 3 x 4 x 8\\s = 96m

                   Hope it helps :D
