Let the number be x and y

∴x=12+y ----- (1)

x+y=48 ----- (2)

From equation (1) x=12+y, substitute the value in equation (2)

12+y=48

12+2y=48

y=18

Put the value of y in equation (1)

x=12+18

x=30

Therefore number are 30 and 18
