Ozone (chemical formula: O3 ) is a gas that is formed by the action of the sun's rays on oxygen present in the stratosphere. Ozone is important as it absorbs harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Ultraviolet rays destroy human cells and are harmful to life on earth. Thus stratosphere supports life on the earth.
