Given:

Height of image v= 4 cm

object placed at u= -2F

To find:

The magnification of the image.

Solution:

Using the lens formula

(1/f)=(1/v)-(1/u)

Put the above values

(1/F)=(1/4)-(1/2F)

(1/F)+(1/2F)=(1/4)

3/2F=1/4

F=1/6

so the object be placed at u= -2×(1/6)

u= -1/3 or 1/u=-3

Now the magnification m=(-v/u)

m=(-v/u)

Put the above value

m=(4×3)

m=12

So the magnification of image is m=12
