Mama reminds me of someone and that someone is my dad. My dad wanted to have a big house too where we can all live comfortably but unluckily he cannot afford a new and bigger house for us. So, he decided to work harder by extending hours of work and removing some of his favorite pastimes including shopping and watching movies. He tries everything just to save for that big house he wanted the family to have. Aside from that, he also tried investing some of his earnings in a small business so that he will have an additional income too. He also tries persuading us to save in any way so that the money spent will always be justifiable. He shares with us his plan but of course the realization of his dream will still be surprise since we do not know when will it happen. I do not have an idea on how much should he still earns in order to acquire the house he wanted us to have. Right now, what important is for him to earn and save just like mama in the story who kept on planting until such time that she had received the money that enables her to buy the house belonging to the white community that makes a huge difference in their lives as a family.
