Isontonic - when cell is kept in this solution pressure inside and out side the cell will be same.

Hypotonic- when cell is kept in this solution pressure in side the cell will be lower than out side.

Hypertonic- when cell is kept in this solution ,the pressure in side the cell will be lesser than out side.

there are three types of solution

1. Hypotonic solution - the solution is highly concentrated if the cell is placed it will lose water by osmosis and it will shrink

2. hypotonic solution - the solution is very dilute if the cell is placed it will gain water by osmosis and it will swell

3. isotonic solution - in this type of solution the cell will remain in the same size because there will be not net movement of water across the cell.
