  1. Mercury is the only one in liquid state at room temperature. It's used in thermometers because it has high coefficient of expansion. Hence, the slightest change in temperature is notable when it's used in a thermometer. It also has a high boiling point which makes it very suitable to measure higher temperatures
  2. Cooking utensils are made uo of copper and aluminium because they are good conductors of heat and hence food can be easily cooked in them. Their handles are made up of plastic because plastic is poor conductor of heat due to which the handles do not get heated and we are sble to hold the utensil with their help
  3. Sea breezes occur during hot, summer days because of the unequal heating rates of land and water. During the day, the land surface heats up faster than the water surface. Therefore, the air above the land is warmer than the air above the ocean. Now, recall that warmer air is lighter than cooler air.
