(b) Both assertion (A) & reason (R) are true but reason (R) is not the correct explanation of assertion (A).

  • Tyndall effect is the scattering of light by those colloidal particles. It is the optical activity.
  • Example:  when the beam of the light is projected at the glass of the milk, the light is scattered as the milk contains the colloidal particles.
  • Another goes example is when the torch is switched on in the foggy day, the path of  light becomes visible. In this case,  water droplets in  fog are  colloidal particles which are responsible for  light scattering.

  • Electrophoresis is the coagulation of colloidal particles under an electrical field. It is an electrical property.
  • Example: Electrophoresis is used in the DNA & RNA analysis & protein electrophoresis which is the medical method used to analysis & separate the molecules found in the fluid samples like blood & urine.

Hence,

Both assertion (A) & reason (R) are true but reason (R) is not the correct explanation of assertion (A).
