CaCO3 +2HCl =====> CaO+ H2O +CO2

[Molecular weight of CaCO3= 100 ]

So 100 g of CaCO3 on treating with excess of HCl will liberate= 44g of CO2.

Therefore 50 g of CaCO3 will liberate =22 g of CO2

= 11.2 Litres of CO2 gas at STP
