the test?
please let me know the answer
Answers
Given :
84% candidates passed in Maths.
Failed = 100 - 84 = 16%
76% candidates passed in Chemistry.
Failed = 100 - 76 = 24%
To Find :
1) The Percentage of failed candidates
2) Number of candidates who had appeared in the test if 340 candidates passed in the test.
1) Finding the percentage of failed candidates.
Given : 8% failed in both the subjects.
Candidates failed in only maths = 16 - 8 = 8
Candidates failed in only chemistry = 24 - 8 = 16.
Total failed candidates = 8 + 16 + 8 = 32%.
Hence, 32% of candidates are failed.

2) Finding the number of candidates who had appeared in the test :-
Failed percent = 32%
=> 100 - 32 = 68 % (passed)
=> 68% = 340 candidates
=> 100 % = ?
=> (100 x 340)/68
=> 34000/68
=> 500.
Hence, 500 candidates had appeared in the test.
Final Answer:
1) Percentage of failed candidates = 32%
2) Candidates who had appeared in the test = 500
