Removal of impurities: The impure hydrogen gas can be purified by passing it through the following solutions: (i) Lead nitrate solution [Pb (NO3)2] - It absorbs H2S. (ii) Silver nitrate solution (AgNO3) - It absorbs PH3 and AsH3. (iii) Caustic potash (solid KOH) - It absorbs CO2, SO2 and oxides of nitrogen.
