4 +  \frac{1}{3} x = 16 \\  \frac{1}{3} x = 16 - 4 \\  \frac{1}{3} x = 12 \\ 3 = 12 \times 3 \\ x = 36

Heya friend,

-----------------------------------------------------

Let the required number be x. Then,

according to question,

x/3 + 4 = 16

=> x/3 = 16 - 4

=> x/3 = 12

=> x = 12×3

=> x = 36

Hence, the required number is 36.

Thanks
