Given:-

  • Sum of two numbers is 23.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

To find:-

  • Smaller number.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \huge \tt \:☃\:SolutioN:-

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Let the other number be x.

And second number will be x + 3 ( beacuse second number is greater than other number)

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So, According to question

⇒x + (x + 3) = 23

⇒x + x +3 = 23

⇒2x + 3 = 23

⇒2x = 23 - 3

⇒2x = 20

⇒x = 20/2

x = 10

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Verification:-

⇒x + (x + 3) = 23

  • Put x = 10.

⇒10 + (10 + 3) = 23

⇒10 + 10 + 3 = 23

⇒23 = 23

Hence, verified.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Other number is 10

Second number is 13 ( Beacuse 10 + 3 = 13)

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

☘ Smaller number is 10.
