• Question

A brick measures 20 cm × 10 cm × 3.5 cm. How many bricks will be required for a Wall of dimension 25 m × 2 m × 0.35 m?

Given

  • Dimensions of a brick -
  • Length of brick = 20 cm
  • Breadth of brick = 10 cm
  • Height of brick = 3.5 cm

  • Dimensions of wall -
  • Length of wall = 25 m
  • Breadth of wall = 2 m
  • Height of wall = 0.35 m

To find

  • No. of brick required to build a wall of (25 × 2 × 0.35) m³

• Concept

  • Firstly, we will find the volume of bricks.
  • Then, the volume of the wall.
  • To get the no. of bricks required for the wall divide the volume of wall by the volume of bricks.

Formula -

Volume = length × breadth × height

• Solution

Volume of bricks -

⇒ length × breadth × height

⇒ (20 × 10 × 3.5) cm³

⇒ 700 cm³

Volume of bricks = 700 m³

Volume of wall -

⇒ length × breadth × height

⇒ (25 × 2 × 0.35) m³

⇒ 17.5 m³

Volume of wall = 17.5 m³

As we know,

• 1 cm³ = 10⁶ m³

Multiply the given value by 10⁶ m³

•°• Volume of wall = 17500000 m³

No. of bricks required for the wall = Volume of wall/Volume of bricks.

⇒ 17500000/700

⇒ 25,000

  • No. of bricks required for the wall of dimensions 25m × 2m × 0.35m is 25,000.
