4. Rumours spread very fast. Sometimes an
incident witnessed by just a few persons
becomes the talk of the town within less than
two hours. Suppose a man comes at about
8 am to a town with a population of about
50,000 and conveys an interesting news to just
three persons. This takes up, say, 15 minutes.
Within 2 hours it became the talk of the town.
Show how is it possible.

Step-by-step explanation:

Say 1 person tells 3 persons in just 15 min

Within two hours,

2 hours = 120 min

Time for conveying the news = 15 min

No. of times the news is conveyed = 120÷15= 8 times,

Now,

1 tells 3 persons

1×3=3

3×3=9

9×3=27

27×3=81

81×3=243

243×3=729

729×3=2187

2187×3=6561

So, almost the entire town gets the news conveyed by just one man in just 2 hours.
