- x+y = 7 _____ eq (i)
- x-y = -1 _____ eq (ii)
Solution:
subtracting eq(ii] from eq(i) :
x+y -(x-y) = 7-(-1)
=> x+y-x+y = 8
=> 2y = 8
=> y = 8÷2
=> y = 4
putting value of y in eq(ii)
x-y = -1
=> x-4= -1
=> x = 3
so, x = 3
y = 4
Verify :
putting value of x and y in eq(i]
x+y = 7
=> 3+4 = 7
