4. These paintings were found on palm leaves.
These were usually painted for Jain and
Buddhist merchants who used to carry them
on their travels across the Indian sub-continent.
Initially these paintings were regarded as Pala
and Jain but later on different schools of arts
followed it. Some of these art schools are
Rajasthani, Mughal
Pahari, Deccani, etc., each having their own
characteristic style and uniqueness.​
