Intensive system are further classified into four systems :

• Slatted floor system

Free range or extensive system:

This is the oldest farming system  used by farmers in general, where there is no scarcity of land and no financial involvement. Free range poultry farming consists of poultry that is allowed to roam freely rather than being contained in any way. It is practiced on a small scale in rural areas.

• Semi-intensive system:

The semi-intensive system is an alternative method of raising broilers where the birds are housed in a pen and have free access to a pasture  during the day. It is known that environmental conditions can directly affect the behavior of birds reared in the semi-intensive system.

Intensive system:

The production systems that house the birds can be of three types. The first type is called intensive production, where the birds stay in cages and are covered all the time. The second type is called semi-intensive production, where the animals have an outdoor area and a covered area.
