4. Which of the following lines passes through (1, 2)? (i) x + y = 3 (ii) x – y = 1 (iii) x = 2 (iv) x = 1

That’s simple since your given the coordinate, that mean your first coordinate will be x while the other is y therefore, 1=x and 2=y.

Substitute them from the equation, and you can see the answer is (i).

Why is not (iv) counted?
Because since the line is x=1 therefore it will never pass the y axis. Its a vertical line.
