4) Effective legislation is needed in order to prevent misuse and degradation of the environment. Thus environmental problems are intrinsically globalin nature. Therefore, to prevent such problems environmental legislation is not needed only at the national level but also at the international level.

5) Problems associated with overpopulation include the increased demand for resources such as fresh water and food, starvation and malnutrition, consumption of natural resources (such as fossil fuels) faster than the rate of regeneration, and a deterioration in living conditions.

6) There are three major ways in which global warming will make changes to regional climate: melting or forming ice, changing the hydrological cycle (of evaporation and precipitation) and changing currents in the oceans and air flows in the atmosphere.
