When Muhammad Ghori defeated Prithviraj Chauhan in the Second Battle of Tarain (1192), the victor got hold of the territory of Delhi. Ghori then appointed his slave, Qutubuddin Aibek as the governor and in charge of Delhi. Qutubuddin Aibek then formed the Mamluk Dynasty in 1296, which was the first dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate. So indirectly Muhammad Ghori helped in establishing the Delhi Sultanate after defeating Prothviraj Chauhan in the second battle of Tarain. It also marked the end of Rajput rule in India.
