Solution:

Given ,.

  • Distance travelled in first 2s = 18 m
  • Distance travelled in next 4s = 14m

Let ,

  • Speed of object in first 2s be V1
  • Speed of object in next 4s be V2

To find,

  • Average speed

__________________________

Now , finding speeds of object

Speed = Distance/time

→ V1 = 18/2 = 9m/s

→ V2 = 14/4 = 3.5 m/s

Now , finding the average speed using

Average speed = 2V1V2/V1 + V2

Note : The given formula is only for the question.

→ Avg speed = 2(9)(3.5)/9 + 3.5

→ Avg speed = 18(3.5)/11.5

Average speed 5.47 m/s

Hence , average speed of object = 5.47 m/s

GIVEN THAT:

distance travelled by an object =18( in case1)

meters

time taken = 2 seconds

distance travelled by an object =14 meters ( in case 2)

time taken = 4 seconds

what we have to find ??

Average speed =total distance /total time taken

18+14/2+4=32/6

32÷6=5.33.....m/s

so avg speed =5.33 m/sec
