Let the age 4 years ago was,


Tina's = x years
Mina's = ( 42 - x ) years



Given that the ratio was 3 : 4


So,

$\frac{x}{42 - x} = \frac{3}{4}$


=> 4x = 3(42 - x)

=> 4x = 126 - 3x

=> 7x = 126

=> x = 18




Hence, present age of Tina = ( x + 4 ) = ( 18 + 4 ) => 22 years


Present age of Mina = ( 42 - x + 4 ) = ( 46 - 18 ) = 28 years
