the length of the parallel sides are 9  and 17 respectively

THE STEP BY STEP EXPLANATION IS GIVEN BELOW:

let the one side of the parallel sides be x

let the another side be x+8(given)

the height of the trapezium i.e the perpendicular distance is 24 cm (given)

the area of the trapezium is 312cm².(given)

we know that, area of trapezium=h/2×sum of the parallel sides.

according to the statement,

                    24/2×x+x+8=312

                          12+2x+8=312

                              20+2x=312

                                     2x=312-20

                                        x=312-20/2

                                          x=9
