The height of the rectangular solid will be 3cm
- If we will arrange the cubes as per the diagram, the perimeter of the figure will be 18 cm as 7+7+2+2= 18cm
- Since, the base of the rectangular solid is 18 cm and cube edge is 1 cm, then there must be 14 cubes at the base of the rectangular solid.
- Since, there are 42 identical cubes, thus they must be arranged in 3 layers of 14 cubes each.
- Therefore, the height of the rectangular solid = 3 × 1 = 3 cm
