Given :- Left pan of a faulty weight weighs 100 gram more than its right pan. A shopkeeper keeps the weight measure in the left pan while buying goods but keeps it in the right pan while selling his goods. He uses only 1 kg weight measure . If he sells his goods at the listed cost price, what is his gain ?
Solution :-
Let us assume that, CP of 1000gm (1kg) goods is Rs.x .
now, given that, he measure in the left pan while buying goods and Left pan of a faulty weight weighs 100 gram more than its right pan.
so,
→ goods he bought in Rs.x = 1000 + 100 = 1100 gm .
then,
→ CP of 1100 gm = Rs.x
→ CP of 1 gm = (x/1100)
→ CP of 900 gm = (x/1100) * 900 = Rs.(9x/11)
now, he uses right pan while selling his goods.
so,
→ goods he sells in Rs.x = 1000 - 100 = 900 gm .
then,
→ SP of 900 gm = Rs.x
therefore,
→ Gain = SP - CP = x - (9x/11) = Rs.(2x/11)
hence,
→ Gain % = (gain * 100) / CP = {(2x/11) * 100} / (9x/11) = (200/9)% (Ans.)
