To find the value of x

Solution:

 \sf{42 -  \frac{x}{2} = x + 2 } \\  \\  \implies \:  \sf{ \frac{84 - x}{2} = x + 2 } \\  \\  \implies \:  \sf{84 - x = 2x + 4} \\  \\  \implies \:  \sf{3x = 80} \\  \\  \implies \:  \boxed{ \sf{x =  \frac{80}{3} }}

Or,

[tex]\sf{\frac{42-x}{2}=x+2}\\ \\ \sf{42-x=2x+4}\\ \\ \sf{3x=38}\\ \\ \sf{x=\frac{38}{3}}[\tex]
